Join us on July 18th from 1-7pm as you embark on a learning garden tour in Moorhead and Dilworth communities. Stops include a community garden, local resident's yards, a rose trial garden, plus a horticulture business. Each site will have a host to share information on the garden as you get a closer look at all these great gardens in your local community. Tour is held rain or shine. Addresses will be emailed closer to the tour date and the tour will officially start at an unspecified location for packet pickup if paper copies are needed. Cost is $10. Driving has changed since you first got your license, and taking the SMART driver course could save you money. The SMART driver course is presented by AARP Driver Safety to seniors to assist them to stay safe drivers, taking into account all the changes that occur as they age. Upon completion of the course, participants will be issued certificates of completion to take to their insurance agents as proof of attending the course.The AARP SMART Driver Course is recognized by Minnesota Driver & Vehicle Services as an approved accident prevention course for drivers 50 years of age and older. Insured drivers 50 years of age or older may be eligible for an appropriate reduction in automobile insurance premium charges valid for three years after completing this course. Please check with your insurance company or agent for any additional requirements for eligibility. Minnesota requires first-time course takers take the full eight-hour course. Payment is required at the time of registration. If you are an AARP member, you will need your membership number to register.

In this two-week community education course, we will dive into the world of gouache and explore its versatility as a medium. Unlike traditional watercolor, gouache can be used to create bold and graphic looks. Through various mark-making exercises, we will create a library of inspiration and experiment with patterns. Materials Needed: set of gouache paints, two to three paint brushes, a canvas pad or a few stretched canvases of any size, and a container to hold tap water.

This Back to Basics Illustration class is the perfect opportunity to delve into the creative process like never before. You will be guided through the basics of sketching and color, texture and lighting effects. You'll learn how to brainstorm original concepts, quickly sketch out your ideas, and use inking and color to add depth and intensity to your illustrations.
