Decorated Letters (Virtual)
Join us and learn something new in an easy to learn, traditional art form. No experience is necessary. Put brush and paint to paper and create a small decorated letter for your use on stationary or as a gift. You will learn painting and decorating techniques using modern tools for the recreation of ancient art. Materials needed: paints (preferably gouache with red, yellow, blue, white, black), gold Gelli roll pen, white Gelli roll or similar, hot press watercolor paper, fine waterproof marker like a Micro, pencil, eraser, fine paint brushes. Learn about Color and Bookmaking (Virtual)
Painting or scrapbooking, decorating a room, putting together a coordinating wardrobe – these all require a knowledge and appreciation of color and color mixing. We will work at alleviating the color frustration, misinformation and intimidation with color paints as our main tools. Be prepared to smile, and sigh with pleasure as ranges of new and different colors come to life. We will also make a simple reference book out of your artistic color testing results as a handy reference for future artistic projects. There is a weekly homework component because color needs practice. This is the dance form, that Irish hard-shoe dancing popular today, originates from. The style is lower to the ground, far less intimidating, but just as much fun as "Riverdance." You can do it.
