Historic River Walk (All ages)
Join Mark Peihl, archivist at the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County, for this informative walk along the Red River. Check out the historic sites, including the steamboat landing and remnants from the riverfront saloons. Put on your walking shoes for this two-mile trek on the bike trails by the river. Class will meet outside the front door of the Hjemkomst Center. -
Walleye Fishing for Beginners (Includes a 3 hour guided tour on the lake)
Learn the basics of Walleye fishing from a boat and gain the confidence you need to fish for Walleyes on your own! Brady Baxter, owner of Baxstar Fishing is an award-winning angler that has fished Minnesota’s lakes for over 30 years. With a background in education, Brady knows what it takes to learn new skills and he loves to share his expertise with others! This course includes two 2-hour classroom sessions during which Brady will teach you all the information and methods you need to know to have success as a Walleye angler. For the final session, you will join Brady and another Baxstar Guide on the water in the Detroit Lakes area to apply what you have learned and fish for Walleye! Materials Needed: Fishing license (a 24 hour fishing license can be purchased here.)
