    Our families need your help! The Early Childhood Family Education Parent Advisory Committee is fundraising to provide scholarships to families. Are you able to make a donation to help a family in need? Our community continues to feel the effects of pandemic constraints. The Parent Advisory Committee has raised funds to directly assist two families with a scholarship for 2022 classes. But, we want to do more! Help us reach our new goal to help five families through our scholarship program.

  • Early Childhood Screening

    Screening is a FREE service for all Moorhead Area Public Schools children. Early Childhood Screening is required in the State of Minnesota. This screening can be completed any time after age 3 and prior to starting a public school. The ideal time for screening is between ages 3 and 4. At the screening, a simple check of vision, hearing, height, weight and development will be completed. This screening will help identify children who may benefit from resources to help in their development. Screening typically takes about 1 hour and you will stay with your child during the entire screening process. Screening is by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Review the available days and choose a time that works best for you and your child. When scheduling, plan for a time that does not interrupt nap or meal routine as this interruption can affect your child's responses during the screening process. You will receive a confirmation email with more details regarding your child's appointment. If you do not receive this email, you are not scheduled. If you have any difficulties or concerns regarding this appointment process, please contact our office for assistance.

    All courses run for six weeks, two lessons per week. Courses are project-oriented and include lessons, quizzes, hands-on assignments, discussion areas, supplementary links and more. You can complete any of these courses entirely from your home or office and at any time of the day or night. How to Get Started: 1. Visit our Online Instruction Center at: www.ed2go.com/moorheadce. This is where you'll select your course, choose a start date and pay for the course. You'll note that there are many more courses than those listed in our catalog, and you're welcome to take any course at this website. 2. Select the course and the date you'd like to start the class and follow the instructions for enrolling in the course. It's at this point that you'll choose a username and password. 3. Make payment with a credit card. 4. On the start date of the course, log in and go to www.ed2go.com/moorheadce and enter the classroom link using your username and password. Requirements: All courses require internet access, email, one of the following browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer (9.0 or above), Google Chrome or Safari and the latest Adobe Flash and PDF plug-ins. Some courses may have additional requirements. Please visit the Online Instruction Center for access to complete course descriptions, student evaluations, instructor biographies, requirements and other information.
  • Elementary Track Camp (3-6th Grade)

    An opportunity for elementary students to learn the fundamentals of track and field. Grades 3-6 students will learn correct running mechanics, hurdling, softball throwing, high jump and the long jump. Events will be coached by current and former high school coaches along with current Moorhead Spud track and field athletes. The first four sessions will be practices, and the last session will be a track meet. Grades 3-6 participants will compete in the 70-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, softball throw, long jump, high jump and 200-meter dash. All registered participants will receive a Moorhead Track Club t-shirt. Location Schedule - Practices will take place at Horizon Middle School Practices Days (Grades 3-6): SESSION C - May 6, 8, 13, 15 (7:15 - 8:45 PM) SESSION D - May 7, 9, 14, 16 (7:15 - 8:45 PM) Track Meet will take place at Moorhead High Track Meet: May 19th 3:00 - 6:00 PM for 3-6 Grades **Registrations taken after April 25th may result in delayed t-shirt distributions.

  • Eureka Engineering (Grades 3-8)

    An introduction to the core skills of robotics and STEM through engaging, hands-on learning opportunities. Student groups will work with Lego Mindstorm kits, which include both electrical and mechanical components. The small groups will be mentored by experienced and passionate instructors. Parents are welcome to watch their child’s robotic creations come to life in exciting and competitive challenges including drag racing, fighting robots and more.
  • Evening Kickboxing/Street Self-defense (Ages 13+)

    This 50-Minute evening class is a hybrid cardio workout meets self-defense class designed to teach you the basics of self-defense while getting a great workout, meeting new people, and relieving stress.

    Wonderful flatbread pizzas, pizza panini, and out-of-this-world pizza sauce! Two of the instructors’ personal recipes for two different homemade doughs will be used. One will be for the flatbread pizzas, and the other for the Panini Rolls that will be turned into pizza panini. Tess will provide Step-by-step guidance and instruction help to ensure the process is a simple as can be.

    Create a stunning glass on glass mosaic using a variety of colorful glass. You will learn glass cutting techniques, proper adhesive use and grouting. Your finished piece will be approximately 4 x 6 and ready to hang.

    Join Brady Baxter, owner of Baxstar Fishing Guide Service, on his top of the line fishing boat to learn how to fish like a professional on our area lakes. You will learn how to use the right equipment in the right situation, and you will learn how to use state of the art electronics to increase your chance of success on the water. During your 3 hour guided trip you will fish for multiple species, including Walleye, Bass, and Northern Pike. Brady is certified in First Aid and CPR and can accommodate those with special needs and limited mobility, so don't let anything hold you back from this incredible experience! This trip is all-inclusive and you will be using professional grade gear; Bring something to drink and a snack. You must also purchase a Minnesota fishing license prior to the trip.
