    How are plants different from each other? Why do birds have different beaks? Explore the wonders of nature all around us with Clay County 4-H and Community Education this summer. This 3 day STEM program will be filled with games and activities that investigate the science of plants, birds and insects. Practice thinking like a scientist as we discover how we connect to the environment around us. We will ask questions, carry out investigations, observe nature and understand our world through a combination of indoor and outdoor activities.     This summer weightlifting camp is for students in Grades 6-12 WITH Olympic Weightlifting experience. We will be following MDH, MDE, and CDC guidelines related to COVID-19. Please note the following: Athletes will need a personal (labeled) refillable water bottle. When indoors, masks must be worn at all times except when lifting We will practice social distancing. We will maximize our space as much as possible. All weight equipment will be sanitized between each session. Drop off will be on the north side of the high school.     You will learn from an experienced drone pilot to complete challenges and earn your Drone Pilot’s License. Once certified, you will take to the skies with your new flying skills and compete with each other in exciting, aerial laser tag battles. Work with your teams and use their critical thinking skills to develop strategies for each aerial competition thrown their way.     Focused on developing the explosive athlete. We will develop ground based speed, agility, quickness and explosive movements off the ground. Pre-habilitation of ankles, knees and hips will be developed to help prevent injuries. We will be following MDH, MDE, and CDC guidelines related to COVID-19.   • Drone Programming (Grades 4-10)

    Students will learn to program and fly at the same time! The programmable drone can be programmed using entry-level block based coding, or more advanced text based coding to perform various challenges throughout the camp. The fun and excitement of flying drones makes it easy to forget students will be learning valuable 21st century programming skills in the process. A snack will be provided each day and parents are welcome to stop in at the end of each day to see what their child has learned. Drones and equipment will be supplied for the class.   • Eureka Engineering (Grades 3-8)

    Eureka introduces students to the core skills of robotics and other STEM areas through engaging, hands-on learning opportunities. Student groups will work with Lego Mindstorm kits, which include both programming and mechanical components. The small groups will be mentored by experienced and passionate students from both high school and collegiate level robotics teams. A snack will be provided and parents are welcome to watch their child’s robotic creations come to life in exciting and competitive challenges. For those interested in getting involved in FIRST Robotics, Eureka serves as a marvelous transition into a FIRST Lego League team!   • Girls Strength and Speed Camp (Grades 6-12) and Boys/Girls Soccer

    This camp is focused on presenting skills that are developmentally appropriate for each individual's skill set. Introduction and advancement of resistance training as well as speed, agility and quickness techniques. We will be following MDH, MDE, and CDC guidelines related to COVID-19. Please note the following: Athletes will need a personal (labeled) refillable water bottle. When indoors, masks must be worn at all times When outdoors, masks must be worn when social distancing can't be avoided and when transitioning between drills. We will practice social distancing. We will maximize our space as much as possible. All weight equipment will be sanitized between each session. Drop off will be on the north side of the high school.
